If she was using a shovel to clean off the car then I'd make her pay for it, even if there are no hard feelings between you. Now if she accidently hit it while cleaning the drive then I'd say go visit your body shop and see what they say.

Good Lord.... who in their right mind would use a shovel to clean off a car, let alone a metal shovel let alone a MUSTANG???

Ya'd have to be either straight out of Belleview, or down right stupid.....

She was trying to dig out the tire, but in her defence it was heavy snow and the shovel was heavy and not very well balanced.... I'm the fool cause I had "that feeling" and knew that it was not a good idea.....

Actually, I took it to the wash, and washed her off and then buffed the whole car down with that RainX quick polish (the kind ya can use while it's still wet, and I have to say it works pretty damm good) and upon further inspection, it's not down to the metal, it's a good scratch but not as bad as I first thought...

I'll take it to a body shop and see what they recommend...

Paint the entire fender...... I noticed a drip in the clear coat so I took it back and they resprayed the side for me, it looked sweet.......two days later...... my 3 year old daughters scooter hit the door leaving a 2 inch scratch............. $450 bucks later it looks sweet again..... I tried to buff it out, I tried color match and some other colored wax from Kragen all made it look worse…..

repaint the whole thing otherwise use the marker and live with it...

next time let the snow melt or keep it in a garage and get a winter beater. [8D]

Exactly! but I have seen people do it! Not on a Mustang, but to do it on any car shows you areaboutthree cans short of a six pack.

Sorry to hear about this, but **** happens.

Anyway, if the scratch did damage the paint, you are in fact going to have to repaint the whole section that is damaged. Once you get it repainted let me just say be very careful with the new repainted section. I would know, i've had my whole car repainted and more of it later on again(mine is black as well) and fresh black paint evenwith a fresh clearcoat can be very easily damaged. Anyway good luck, but you will definately need some new paint.

If there is still base color in the scratch (you don't see primer) then only clearcoat need be applied. Depending on where the scratch is, you may not need (want) to have the whole panel recleared (it won't match the OE clear on adjacent panels) Tell us where the scratch is or add a pic.
