Yeah when I did mine I didn't remove the mount I just loosened it. But yesterday I just said I'm not gonna fight this thing all day so I just unbolted it and got the forward bolt out. Somecars give more than others. But I've never ever messed with the gas tank. Only reason to lower it is to replace the mount.

I gave up trying to get them out. I sprayed the Wd40 on them, but didn't try to remove them again. I was lucky I was able to retighten the drivers side at all, it was tight!

Removing the mount is not necessary like you said. I was able to remove the stock arm and retorque the bolt with the new arm in place with much less effort than it was taking to drop that gas tank.

Yepthe snubber issupposed to be facing down. Did the WD-40 work for you?

Well I'm not sure if that's the same as the other one. It's called a T50IP, not sure what IP means, but it's not the same as a T50 bit.

At any rate I wouldn't recommend anyone try to remove the gas tank strap bolts unless you need to replace the mount for the upper control arm.
