Shelby hood pins (hood rub/scratch?)
Well i have my Shelby hood pins in and of course they look fantastic.....but there is one minor problem......where the lanyard sits on the hood there are small scratches or rubs in the clearcoat/paint, due to the vibration and air movement. Does anyone have this same problem? If so how do i remedy this issue? please help.....

mine didn't come with tubing either... so I went to lowes and picked up some clear freezer lines and there you go.. problem fixed. You'll have to cut the lines with a razor then place them over the lanyard... takes all but 2 minutes and I never had a scratch on my hood

My buddies had the same problem. He ended up just loosing the cable. I went with the sparco pins to avoid the problem.

I was worried about that too. I never thought of the clear line over the cord, that's a great idea. I decided not to have the pins hang at all and go with the old twist lock pins from the early 70s Mach 1. -Joe

RE: Shelby hood pins (hood rub/scratch?)
Thanks! I think it was here that I got them or it was some forum. A guy found them and put together a kit of the parts needed from the original early 70s parts with instructions and templates for drilling. I gotta admit it isn't for the faint of heart. You have to drill 2 3" holes in your hood and if you mess up!!! [:@] I must have measure 100 times before drilling. The problem for me was the template was for the stock hood which is different from my Cervinis hood so the template was worthless. The other bad part is on the 70s Mach 1 the hood was pretty flat and parallel to the radiator support bar. In the S-197, the fron of the hood curves downward at the radiator which made it a B!TCH to get lined up! I had to cut some rubber bushings at an angle to tilt the mounting plate at the same angle as the hood to get them to line up. I fought with this for a couple days but I like them. -Joe
