SHELBY GT WORTH IT???
There is a dealer in my area with a standard Shelby GT (NOT GT 500) for sale for $49k. I have not researched enough, but is this worth it? My understanding is that it is about 340 hp stock. Also has a Rousch "Blackjack" coming in see link.
http://www.roushperformance.com/must...lackjack.shtml Don't know the price of that one yet, but would that be a better buy?
Thinking of upgrading the silver 05...
Any help/ opinions appreciated...

I'm more a fan of Rousch.Unbiased opinion wouldhave me say the Blackjack is a better looking car too.But regardless of whichever you pick, let me know when you're going to do it (if you decide to). I'll gladly give that 05 of yours a good home.

The hard part of the question is the "In your face" dealer mark-up,
We have one here at the local dealer and right there on the bottom of the
window sticker "Dealer Adjustment; + $12,000.00"
As bad as I bleed blue, I hope it sits...........
You can add all those same goodies and more, and save a LOT of money!!
I'm sure I'll die before time allows it to be a classic !!
just my .02
I noticed a dealer link for the Roush,
Shop around,road trip,drive her home!!!!

RE: SHELBY GT WORTH IT???
I'd have to say most definitely no- not for $49K.
The GT-H has 319 h.p., not 340.
Ford first said it had 325 then revised that down to 319.
If you bought the exact same FRPP and handling package that comes on the GT-H for your regular GT (for only a little more than $3K dealer-installed), then that means you'd be paying something like $17K or $18K just for those Shelby appearance modifications (including the fake hood scoop and fake side scoops)!
I'd love to have a GT-H for the msrp, but $49K is a rip-off IMO.

AT 49K, their is a LOT of dealer mark-up !!!!!
They should MSRP around 34 to 36K
For the most part, is a stock GT with the three FRPP packages,
granted it did come from Shelby (enough said)
But for that amount ofmoney, I like the Roush
Think what you could do with 10K to build the "Silver Bullett"
decisions,decisions..................

I have one (black) and I love it, but $12k markup is too much to pay. Mine was also marked-up $12K and I got them down to $3K. Even then it seemed high to me. You could get the same mods done cheaper than if you buy a standard GT but it wouldn't have the Shelby name. As far as looks, IMO this is the BEST looking mustang ever built. I've looked at Roush, Saleen, etc. and I think the total combination of stripes, hood and side scoops, black wheels, no spoiler and the S H E L B Y across the trunk lid, etc. that Shelby did with this car is awesome. In fact almost anyone who sees the my car for the first time actually says "awesome". I've heard some are buying these instead of the GT500 and having Shelby install a S/C to get 470 HP. I don't plan on doing that since I'm happy with it as it is. I used to own a 1970 chevelle SS 396 and this mustang would smoke it in the 1/4 mile. The handling and steeringare great and it just sounds "awesome". Also the Hurst shifter is great!
So you could do it all cheaper by yourself, but it wouldn't be a Shelby and your warranty would be questionable.
I think at MRSP it is definitely worth it, $3K over is pushing it for me but I'm happy.
