RE: getting around the stock saleen flash????
I just realized that Perdi emailed saleen and got this response. I will call and talk with Jorge tommorow and find out how to dyno tune a car that saleen has lock up from the tuner. There has to be access to tune the car.

Hawgman, I bought the car brand new with the dealer saleen conversion. I purchased the diablo brand new. It will not read the pcm to copy the stock program. Access is not allowed for the tuner to change the parameters period.

So basically what the cat from Saleen is saying is that you can overwrite what is there, just not pull it off. So fine, take it to a dyno shop, let them start with a new base, and overwrite it. Or even better, call Jim at JDM and talk to him. They are pretty much the premiere shop for doing Saleen SC tunes on S197s. Only thing is, they are SCT not Diablo. But once you start tweaking some of the higher end stuff that you would do when tuning a supercharged car, you are going to want to move to SCT anyway. Their software has ( as an example ) over 70 different parameters just for the auto transmission.

Yep thats right! Saleens tune is locked so you can'tmess withthe tune andblow your motor. Iv'e met Jorge andhe's a great guy but if your car is still under warranty I doubt he will unlock it! You could have Ford reflash it back to stock but you will need a tune to run the car afterwards, This is why I'm using JDM from the gitgo. I did not want a Saleen canned tune and ST motorsports just cant get me in right now.I didn't look but if you are in So Cal give Adam a call @ ST motorsports. He tunes with the Diablo and may be able to help you out. There are 50 more horses in there but it will take a set of injectors, a bigger MAF, smaller pulley and maybe more depending on what you have for an intake.
