friend says i can't run 12's in the 1/4 mile
soo i have a friend who has a ss truck and doesn't think i can run 12's unless i get a supercharger (i know he isn't the smartest about racing) but how can i get into the 12's w/o spending alot of money. check my mods out below and tell me what else i would need to make it that fast. i was thinking 4.10's, underdrive pullies, dyno tune and good driving and maybe or maybe not drag radials. thanks for ur help!!
P.S. i'm going to the drags this weekend and he is coming so any tips would be great too! i have never been before

ok well go to the track first and get used to the way your car takes off, see if there are any guys there with mustangs and ask them too, your not going to get in the 12's right now but learn how to become one with the stang, also who cares what your friend thinks, he bought an SS silverado which aren't really that fast, but everything that you listed should get you into the 12's, you don't need super or turbo to get into the 12's, but it would be high 12's, but above all just have fun

all you actually need is a CAI/tune and slicks. brenspeed ran 12.8's like this.
CAI/tune, 4.30's, good tires, ad an o/r x pipe will get you there easily. that is, if you can rip a gear.

You probably need some better gearing like those above me said and practice
The SS is a nice truck but your friend can't do a 12 second quarter mile stock so he can't get on your case. You could get there faster with your mods and then some
2005 SS Silverado
325 HP / 370 TQ
0-60: 6.3 seconds
1/4 Mile: 14.8 @ 90 mph

I'd go to the track as is and practice some and get a baseline and then build from there. There's alot of 'steps' to get used to and worrying about ET isn't one of them. To run high 12's you'll need to be running in the 104-106 mph range and thats with good traction/good driving and a good setup. Find out what mph you can run and that will give you an idea of what et you could run with ideal conditions and lots of practice. Good Luck!!!

but ya those gears should help your acceleration, but most importantly learn how to hook it up with the strip
