Need new tires

RE: Need new tires
I have the BFG GForce tires that came stock. They are very good, very sticky tires. However, when they are running thin I'll go with the Toyo Proxies 4s. I have had Toyo tires before, on my 350Z, and they are also a very good tire. Very sticky in dry or wet conditions. Good tire life also.

I'm getting kumho 255/50/17 SPT's when the Pirellis are done. The pirellis are all season, so if you want better performance you should look at an ultra high performance summer tire. I live in Florida and don't really have the need for all season. I want good grip and good wet traction.

You should go to a 255 tire after the stock ones wear out. You might as well make good use of that extra inch of rim.

I'm running the stock pirellis (235/55s) on custom 9" deepdish wheels and I can't spin 'em on a bet. They're wearing great. Couldn't ask for a better tire.

I have 35k on the pirellis, and will probably go with another set soon. Here in Salt Lake City we get all sorts of weather, snowed yesterday after being 70 on the weekend. I think the pirellis give good all around performance and the price isn't bad.

Good advice. I intend to go to 255s( course the way my pirellis are wearing, it may take forever- can't afford to replace now). Matter of fact I've thought 265/50s might look even better; I've heard mention on the forum of this size, but I can't find any company that makes 'em.

Wow, you got through 30k miles on the stock Pirellis? Im not even at 15k and mine are looking like slicks... I spin the tires so much because the traction is so horrible that they just burn away. Thing is I dont even try to spin them, and I have to pull out of places -very- slow so that they dont light up, even when its dry. Im looking into new tires as well because these are going to give out soon and Im going to be SOL. You going with larger tires or sticking to the stock size? Id like to find some 255/50/17s all around... I think thats the largest we can go on stock rims right?

RE: Need new tires
Thanks for the tips guys and gals.
I was looking at some Firestone Firehawks as well as the suggestions you all made, and came to realize I just can't afford the better tires at the moment.
I almost went with the pzero's again, because I liked them, especially for the price.
I ended up ordering a set of Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus tires.
Cost just a bit more then the pzero's, but have a better mileage warranty.
I should have them on next week, and I'll let you all know how I like them.

Mine break loose in first from a roll very easily and of course they spin like crazy when I shift to second. I can't get to 6400rpms in first without the tires spinning on any road. I'm not stock of course and I have tons of suspension mods to better traction. The pirellis just have no grip.

how the frig do you NOt have traction? are you stock, or what? i have 18k on my car and my tires look new. i can't spin them unless i take a sharp turn and floor it or unless i reve to 4k and sidestep the clutch. if i just floor it, i go...now spinning for me...
