Default HEY OLD GUYS--GEAR CHANGE??

I've been waiting a year to get and install 4.10's in my '05. I finally got the gears and can have them installed any time. But, I was talking to a freinds mechanic and he said not to got with the 4.10's, too much gear. I know if I was in my 20's it wouldn't matter but I'm older now (48) he's got me thinking. I've read 1000's of posts on gears, I mostly drive around the city and local highways. It is a standard. Should I not worry about it. WHAT ARE YOU OLD GUYS DOING, HAPPY WITH THE 3.55'S OR SWITCHING?

I love the 3:73s, noticably quicker.
Not too much for the hwy.
1st & 2nd are still useful, and saves me gas since I use 5th on roads doing 60-62 and 4th in town @ 45.
If you are pushing a blower or NOS I'd forget the 4:10s for sure, since you'd probably destroy your tires in 1 & 2nd.

All the old guys are taking a nap right now. When they get up they'll drink an ensure and try to help you. Until then I have some questions for you.......and your answers may assist the old guys that respond.

1. Do you race the car?

2. Do you run DR tires?

3. Do you like wheel spin?

4. Are you currently running 3.31's or 3.55's?

4.10's with a 5spd is just fine, go with it! Take it from an "old guy"!

No, I do not race but I am thinking about doing the 1/4 occasionally.
Standard stock tires, 17" rims.
I like to make them spin when I want then to.
3.55's.

Car is fast and I love it....w/3.55's, I want more(like everyone else) but not sure if I need it.

The 4.10s are DEFINITELY!!! the way to go, especially around town, and expecially if you are N/A. Sorry, but your friends mechanic is not well informed, or just doesn't like them. Oh yea, and I'm 54 !!

Just wondering if older guys, like myself, are looking for more get up and go or if they're happy with what they got.
