Turbocharger/Supercharger question?

Turbocharger/Supercharger question?
I'm not looking for anything right now except information on turbochargers and superchargers. I had a wrx that was turbocharged and hated the turbo lag, but that was with a 4 cylinder engine. Would I experience much lag, or would the v-8 still have the power at low end until the turbo spools up? The supercharger has the low rpm power i like and quick off the line, but which is more reliable and best bang for the buck? I'm looking at the Granatelli turbo system and the Saleen SC or the Vortech SC. I'm looking for around 450RWHP and around the same amount of torque with as little psi as possible. Opinions and/or suggestions are welcome...

RE: Turbocharger/Supercharger question?
Well there is A TON OF INFO on here just use the search button.
Just some quick things though
1) Very little or any lag at all with the Turbo kits out for these cars!
2) Actually your getting full boost or near full boost with a turbo set up at 2300-2500 rpms3
3) If I was you I would go with Hellion set up for about 5k you get everything you need.
4) Be very careful at 450 rwhp, I have a turbo set up and I would not go near 450 rwhp, that just me, there are guys running that here and some will tell you its not a matter of if its when it will blow. I would stick to 400 rwhp, you can get that with 6-8 psi on a DYNO jet

RE: Turbocharger/Supercharger question?
I have a Vortech... I wouldn't call it a lag.... but there definately is a rush of power starting around 2700-2800 rpm.... as the boost builds... the car always makes power thanks to the V8... on a centri style the boost builds higher than the twin screws.... and makes more top end power..... mine peaked (tuner let off) @ 6350 RPM with 10.2 psi boost and 435 RWHP on a Mustand Dyno. the revs build much faster now... and the speed as well... did a 60-120 pull this weekend... and sheeet it was there quick!!!
from my understanding you can make more power with the turbo set ups.... but I love the Vortech!!
Good luck

RE: Turbocharger/Supercharger question?
I can't speak for the Supercharger guys, although I am sure they are happy as there as a lot of good kits out there for them...Whipple, Saleen, etc...
As far as the turbocharger, although I have the 4.0 not the GT, it is all in the proper sizing of the turbo. I went with the PowerHouse for the 4.0. They use the Precision 61 turbo. The GT uses the Precision 67 as the base with upgrades available for the 76mm. Look at the different kits, browse other forums, and try to find pics and info on each one.
As far as reliability and such, there is a wealth of info to be found by searching. Everyone will tell you that the turbo runs on exhaust gases, so you won't get the strain on motor from using a belt. That is by no means downplaying the power of Superchargers, I think all these kits have their positives and negatives. The biggest drawback of a turbo is probably the amount of plumbing that is used, as well as installation.
Yes, you will need a 93 octane (east coast) tune when you go with the power adder. Also, when you go this route, it is my opinion that you will want to get it custom tuned on the dyno to not only maximize the efficiency, but to also ensure that you aren't getting any detonation.
Edit: With today's turbo's with proper sizing, there is no noticeable lag. I am in full boost by 28-2900 rpm. I am sure the Hellion kit is around that range as well. Turbos are also torque monsters and able to keep pulling through the powerband all the way down the track.
