Default Turned off and it was still running

Yesterday I backed up revved it a couple times and pulled in the gaurage and turned the key off and it kept running, but was making a strange winding noise for about 10 sec and then stopped. Cranked it back up let it run about 10 sec and it did the same thing when turned off, Popped the hood and went and got the ole lady and had her crank it up and rev it a couple time and turn off and it wouldn't do it anymore? Got any idea's what it was?

The actual engine was still running? Crank and everything.

I think thats called "run-on" but I can't remember what causes it though. Anybody?

Could be an ignition switch problem?!?!

you removed the key and it remained running? if the crank was still runing after being turned off then it would be ignition issues most likely.

Wow that sounds "F'd" up to put it mildly. I'd go right to the dealer. Maybe water got in were it shouldn't have.
