You sure it wasn't the fan? It can be loud after turning the car off - kinda sounds likea jet engine winding down sometimes.

Hood pins. If they're the functional kind, they help keep the hood down but most people do them because they like the look. Has nothing to do with the engine though.

Drove it all day today and no problems, Could have been some bad gas...If it does it again, I'll run it up to the dealer

dieseling ( run on ) is common with poorly tuned carbs

my volvo diesels every now and then

BUT, it is not caused by bad gas

dont even wait for it to pop up again, bring it to the dealer and have them at least document it

If you bring it in say twice, and they can't verify, then on the third time they do. It will be refered back to those previously two times incase you got a lemon or you fall out of warranty.
