Removing Vinyl Mustang Side Strip
How do you remove the MUSTANG strip on the sides?
Reason i'm asking is that it is started to flake off. I called Ford Dealer Body Shop and they said it was still under warranty that I had to bring it in to verify it and they would order and replace it. I had the Mustang since July 2005.
I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts about having the side stripeson. I have a 2005 Torch Red Premium
I real hate vinyl decals. I hate when you wax your car and the wax lays on the top of the vinyl edge.
It would much easier to wax it if it was not there. Not having the word MUSTANG on the side of the car would not make it any less of a Mustang. They will fade over time anyways.

well, if you will keep your Mustang forever go ahead and do what you want.
If you plan on selling it you really should have the OEM side stripe. I would get the dealership to install a new one, but make sure the area is prepped the right way.
This site has lots of info on prepping the area before installation of new side stripes and I'm positive the dealer won't be nearly as thorough!
My side stripes were installed at the dealer and I'm pretty sure they didn't clean the area 10 times! That's why they started to peel after just 1 year.

I'm not going to sell it. The thing isthat it came withV6 exterior sport package sport stripe and spoiler. It was on the lot as is. Even if I was to delete the stripe, it's still a Mustang and not having the stripe on would not make it sell any less. People like when Mustangs look different. So thats not what I'm concern about.
Getting those dam things off without damaging anything,is what I am concern about.
I love waxing my car and i think my life would be easier and it would look better.
We all know in time they fade and will start to peel and the job getting them off will be harder.
I think this will be my new look for my Stang.
Whats good to remove any adhesive left behind?

I would think your stripes would be under warrenty? If you want them off any bodyshop should tell you how. I just had mine taken off to paint graphics on instead and I think he said they used a hairblower to heat it up. But be carefull not to get it to hot. Good luck...

You don't really need to use a hairdryer, I didn't. They just peeled right off, no problem. There's no question that it's a Mustang, no need to advertise it. I think they look better without it, I know mine does!
