Installing UDP's
Hello All
Whats involved with installing UDP's? I did a search, another guy asked the same question with no replies. Is it something that can be done easily, any special tools? Puller? Thanks in advance. _____________________________ 05 Mustang GT 5 Speed Mineral Grey, IUP, Plenum Cover, Billet accesories, Boss Striping Kit, Pypes Violators, Hurst Shifter http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...ictures003.jpg |

RE: Installing UDP's
There was a link on this forum somewhere. But it's very simple. You just need to remove the fan assembly out of the way. and the overflow reservoir. It's self explanitory once you get in there and do it. The you have plenty of room to hit the pulley bolt with an impact to remove it. Get yourself a pulley remover tool and then install the new one. The install procedure is a bit tricky but basically you press it one then torque it. I did it a slightly less "PROPER" way but haven't had any problems with it. Search for the UDP install and you should find the link.

Matt, thanks for the links. Very good instructions in all 3 of them for a novice like me.

RE: Installing UDP's
I wrote the instruction on www.cherod.com/mustang. The trick for me was finding a compact impact wrench small enough (5" or less) to fit between the radiator fan and the crankshaft. I did not want to go through the trouble of removing the Antifreeze reservoir, Steering fluid reservoir and fan shrowd assemby. I wound up borrowing one from Sears the first time. If you are going to do it a few times it might be worth it to buy one.
The other key point was the altenator bolt. If your kit does not come with a shorter bolt, you will need to cut or grind down one of the alternator bolts. I did not notice that one of the bolts barely rubbed against the belt and shortly after I started the car, the belt was torn to shreds. The last thing to remember is to reconnect all of the plugs you pulled. Ive done the Pulley install a few times now and every once in a while, I forget to re-connect the MAD and I wind up getting errors upon strat up. Over all, this is a very simple install and definitely worth the effort. |

Howarmat
Thanks for the info, I am ordering my CAI and tune this week, will add UDP's to the shopping list. |
RE: Installing UDP's
Has anyone done before and after dynos? I ready all different stories for UDP hp increase - everything from 10hp to just 1-2. If its a really low increase to me its not worth the cost and labor.

RE: Installing UDP's
Its going to depend on your other mods but I think gains along 8-10 are closer to correct.
