Default GT w/ FRPP and FRHP vs. Shelby GT

They both are the same car except the Shelby GT has stripes and an X pipe.

I know FRPP, but what is FRHP??

I know the Shelby GT is a GT with the FRPP Power Pack, Handling Pack, 3.55 or 3.73 rear, x pipe, and Hurst shifter, and of course, the Shelby and "Powered by Ford" badging, stripes as you mentioned, different grille, spoiler delete, and hood pins w/ lanyards, and hood scoop.

My question I guess is would you pay the extra money or build it yourself?

You can add the FRPP and FRHP and gears yourself but its not going to be a shelby if that is what you are asking? So if if you add the parts all you have is a GT with a better than stock but still not great suspension and slightly (15-20) more HP.

the problem w/ the shelby is the dealer markup.... you cant get em even for sticker...

I guess he's asking what I'm curious about too. All the parts on the non GT500 Shelby, can you buy better for less, and put them on a stock GT, and still come out cheaper than the Shelby at sticker?

Build it yourself? You can't build a Shelby. You may "Clone" a Shelby but only the Folks at SAI can build a Shelby.

You for sure can spend less and could put the same stuff ona Gt But, after all the modding is said and done, you will have a modded Gt thats to your liking, Nothing at all wrong with that! There are some real sweet Gt's here andpretty freakin fast one's too! But it just won't be a Shelby.

People spend thier hard earned money on what ever they want, It all depends on what you want to spend your money on. Would i do it again? You bet your ***!

If im not mistaken, I think there quite a few similarpost on this subject.

The costs for the body kit are not what makes the car so expensive. There is a lot more to the shelby gt and gt500 than the kit. You can always buy the body kit and yes its going to be a lot less than the freaking sticker. There is a totally different suspension, exhaust, engine, tranny etc that sets them apart. Hell the freaking interior has many differences also. And then you still have the Shelby name, that is a good part of the price too. Why are you so obsessed with try to "imitate" the Shelby. Do you own thing that you like. You aren't gaining much by making you V6 look like a Shelby.
