Default 4.10's Who has them on their car

I want to change my gears but I have some questions and concerns. First the concern:

How is the drivability? Do we lose much off the top end? Do you feel a considrable difference in take off making it a worthwhile purchase? --- I only ask because I put 4.30's in my fox body when I was younger and it killed my top end (90mph max) and I had to start in 2nd gear in day to day driving. I would go through gas like crazy, of course it was not a problem when it was a buck a gallon!!!

Now, if I decide to get them, where do I buy them and install them (dealer/aftermarket shop)? Which brand should I use and what will I be looking in terms of cost and how much to install? Thanks for all your input in advance.

I know I have to recalibrate because my speedo should be all over the place.

I read on this forum that 3.73 was the way to go, i.e. adding a supercharger down the line...so I did. It is noticably quicker, but a flash retune to 93 sucks on gas

At first I wanted 4.10s, but after reading and researching...3.73s seemed more sensible.

4.10 gears definitely make the car less user-friendly on the street. This is aggravated by the fact that my rearDRs have a smaller diameter than stock rears, so the effective gear ratio is actually 4.34.Overall gas mileage hasn't changed. Took the car on a 850 mile trip last week and returned 24.9 mpg. The benefit for me is towind up the centri faster togenerate more boost. Withthe blower, 1st and 2nd gears are gone in about 2.8 seconds (see very short video of streettest).

I have 4.10s and I dont understand why anyone would say they make the car any harder to drive......... They will not affect top end. Red Line in 5th is still faster than a N/A car will go.

You just shifter sooner and give it less gass.... why does that make it harder to drive?

This is all with a N/A Manual. I cant speak for anything else.

I have 4.30's but i recommend 4.10's or 4.30's, i wouldn't do 4.30's if you plan on supercharging down the road. With the 05 GT calculator, which is pretty accurate, it says my max in 5th gear is 145mph. I still use first gear. To get up to speed when in 5th, i just give it more gas and she goes, don't have to drop it into 4th unless i'm playing around. They are awesome with the nitrous, feels fast as sh*t. Don't fear the gear.
Also with my 275 40 17's out back it says my effective ratio is 4.55, though once i get my 305 40 18's and rims, it will be alot less than that.it'll jump back up there with the DR's.That should tell you something, you can get 4.10's get different size rear tires and it can be an effective ratio of 3.90.

I just put 4:10s in my 07 auto and let me tell you the drivabilty is still there. Some people my be scared of what the car will do with this gear cause it bites hard with less gas. I still avg. 22-24mpg and city driving is more fun. Passing power is awsome. At 80mph with the stock 3:31s that came in the car I was running about 2650rpm with OD on now I run 2950-3000rpm at 80 with OD on. Turn OD off and Im at 4000rpm at 80 right into the power without adding an inch of pedal. Yesterday I was goofing on an empty highway and let off the gas at 125 car was still pulling and had plenty more RPMs to go. IMO If you gonna go gears go BIG. My install was 700.00 parts and labor with ford racing gears with the new face hob process.
