Moleskin (for window tint) install w/pics and vids
#92
I did this mod to my '06 stang, in preparation for tints. However, now I've started noticing a 2" wide streak on my window that constantly comes back. It is on both windows in the same location.
I've traced the cause back to the track/roller inside the door that helps the window roll up and down. this roller component is 2" wide, on the inside side of the window, and seems to have some sort of felt on it. I don't want to disassemble the door just to investigate this further. Has anyone else experienced this sort of streak? I have to admit, it's only visible under perfect lighting conditions, but it's definitely there. am I being too picky?

That is an excellent write-up.
Great for whenever you do your own window tinting and you want to protect your work.
However, if you ever go to a shop and have them tint your windows, be absolutely certain that they do a window weatherstrip upgrade too. They are supposed to as part of the service, but in another thread, someone had his windows tinted and the damn shop forgot to put in the moleskin!

I have a 2" wide streak on mine that only started when the moleskin was installed. This is a vertical streak near the middle of the windows from top to bottom. It is adhesive from the moleskin kit. The moleskin is also leaving horizontal streaks on the window at various places. Also adhesive residue.
I have been extremely unhappy with this crap and I really wish I had never put it in the car. I can't wait to get it the hell out of there. I am going to try a second moleskin kit and if it has the same problem I don't know what I'll do next.

Damn, that smokes pole. Vertical AND horizontal residue streaks?
The only thing I can suggest is make sure the adhesive that you used to apply the moleskin has completely cured. Meanwhile, just roll up your window and wipe the windows clean and don't roll them down at all until they are fully dry.
A more troublesome thought: I say go ahead and undo the door panel again and inspect the moleskin.
If you rolled your window down while the adhesive was still curing, you could have made the moleskin come off the position it was originally glued on and now you no longer have moleskin contacting your window, you have the raw adhesive touching the window!
Sorry to be a bearer of bad news.
BTW, do me a favor and give that gal in your avatar with that tush a slap on that hot bottom! That avatar teases the hell out of me every time you post!

Thanks for the link. Car is stored right now but I will probably go ahead and get the weatherstripping replacement installed next summer. Will be a happy camper if that solves the problem.
PS: JIM she loves spankings.
