Steeda/Ford Racing CAI

Steeda/Ford Racing CAI
It seems that most people go with either the C&L or JLT II kits for these cars. Was wondering how the Steeda/Ford Racing kits match up against these. I like the look of the Steeda kit, especially with the new elbow that replaces the stock intake tract. The Steeda/Ford kit seems like it has a more substantial heat sheild in place as well. When the cars are dynoed, isn't the hood open? Was wondering if that would negate any of the sheilding of any of the CAI kits.
I was considering the JLTII, but it isn't exactly the prettiest thing in the world, but seems pretty effective. Just wondering what the general concencious is with it.

The Steeda site claims thier intake and tune give you about 5hp more than "similar" products. Take it for what it is worth. Not sure if Brenspeed has tunes for the Steeda intake - I would guess so. You could check with them.

I just installed the steeda intake package from Brenspeed. I really like it a lot. It was easy to install too. I really dont think the steeda gives you more power. It really comes down to the tune. I just want to know if tunes will decrease the life of the car. Its my daily driver so I need it to last.

I think fords cai comes with a tune, but it's not aggressive like you want. i would go with others before the ford cai, and it's not replacing the intake track which does not flow that great. If you get the JLTII get it paint matched to your car. i have the airraid cai, same as the roush, ,and i got it paint matched, looks great and people say it looks great. The cai and tune will wake your car up. great bang for the buck.

what about Fords CAI? No good tunes for it or is it just not well made compared to C&L etc..?

The Ford racing tune is not as agressive as the tunes from Brenspeed, I've run both and the Ford tune doesn't address the throttle lag and doesn't pull as hard on the top-end. I'd recommend the Steeda/Tune package from Brenspeed, but the C&L package from Brenspeed would be fine if you like the C&L better.
