The GT 500 is without a doubt AWESOME, but who wants to pay thousands of dollars more than they have too?! I am looking for a Shelby GT 500 but unwilling to pay way over sticker price, as I am sure many of you are.

I have been looking for one of these cars (and willing to pay full sticker price) since they were announced. It feels like the initial frenzy around the car is starting to die down, but dealers are still trying to drag out those last few big pay days (40K+ over sticker).

I live in Los Angeles and have seen many of the GT 500’s around town and in dealerships. I have also talked to guys who have paid anything from sticker price to 40K over sticker. A few months ago when I was at Galpin Ford a sales person took me over to their “private show room” where they keep their stock pile of GT 40’s and GT 500’s, and proceeded to lie to me up and down about production numbers, car details/specs, and pricing.
I just want to know the truth!

What I really want to know is, what have people been paying for this car?

If you own a GT 500, know someone that owns one, or know someone that knows someone that owns a GT 500 WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
What did you pay?
What dealer did you buy your car from? Or What area/city/state did you buy your car?
Did you preorder your car?
Coupe or convertiable?
Any other information that can help the rest of us out would be appreciated.

I live in Fairfax, VA and they were asking between 65k to 73k here so yea like the previous post GOOD LUCK

I put this post up less than a half an hour ago and already more than 20 people have viewed it. This is obviously a topic people are interested in.

I know that getting one of these cars will not be easy, but with more information we can make better decisions. Plus with the 08 model year approaching there will be a whole new batch of cars to go after and “collectors” will have had their fill.

My Sister sells Fords and knows the owner of the dealer she works for well. She recently handled the sale of a Shelby to the owners best friend. This was a man the owner had known for 45 years, were the godfather of each others kids, had been in each-others weddings, and regularly went on family vacations together.

This man managed to walk out of the dealership with a Shelby for about$18,000 OVER invoice, which puts it right around $60,000 or so. Plan to spend some coin if your serious.

Who is this "WE" that you mention in your post ifYOU are interested? Are you a seller/stealership trying to figure out how much you can mark yours up because this topic has been covered numerous times regarding current pricing. If you are willing to pay full sticker price what do production numbers matter if you have found them for sale buy one.? Just an interseting choice of conflicting wording used in your post.

You should be paying around $60-$70 depending on geography. Production is smaller it's a GT500. If you are willing to spend the money hold out for the GT500KR that will have an even smaller production run.

Smokem let me address your questions/comments one at a time.

“WE” is who ever had enough interest in the title of the post to open it and take a look. We includes myself.
I am the farthest thing from a dealership/seller. I am just a Mustang lover like most people on this site. In fact I have an open dialog with a rep from Ford Motor Co. regarding local dealerships handling of the GT 500. I am a 26 year old who has loved Mustangs since I was 13. I have owned two GT mustangs 94 and 00. I am now ready for an upgrade.
I have seen other posts on this forum that have talked about price, but not one dedicated to it. If I am wrong and there are other threads running then I apologize. Point out the tread if you can.
Pricing can change and since I did not see any current posts dedicated to price I thought I was worth opening this up to discussion. Again.
I am willing to pay full sticker price maybe even 2k – 4k over. If I found a car at that price I would already own it and would not be posting here.
The only reason I mention productions numbers is to illustrate the deception buyers are encountering in the market place.

Iwas just messing with youif you were a dealership you would have plenty of access to pricing and production numbers! I would not let the dealership know you are so willing to open your wallet. Get the best deal you can then use all your money and upgrade to KB S/C.

what i have heard so far. is that 8000 - 10,000 gt500's
produced per year, for three years.
