RE: Anyone "fix" their plenum cover (after hood liner rubbing damage)?
So, I may just buy a new plenum, but first I need to fix the liner.I was thinking of maybe just sticking some velcro under it where it sags. Anyone see any reason that would be a bad idea? It's not gonna melt from the engine heat or anything, is it?

I noticed yesterday that my 2006 also had rub spots on the cover from the hood liner. I will be checking to see if it is loose. Thanksfor the suggestions!

I talked to a body shop guy after reading this thread in the morning and he states that the shield not only keeps engine noise down but also protects the paint from heat. Since I'm installing a scoop I think I'll just remove part of the shield over the engine cover. I'm not paying $250 for the engine cover to have the paint rubbed off. Even with the BMR strut tower brace it could still rub in the front I guess.

RE: Anyone "fix" their plenum cover (after hood liner rubbing damage)?
It seems that I fixed my plenum cover rubbing problem. I have an 06 GT that I added the plenum cover but the hood liner was rubbing away at the cover (in the area about in the middle of the cover). I drilled a hole and added an extra push pin (bought at advance auto, almost exactly like the factory retainers). I added it in the raised cross-channel area of the hood near the firewall end. It pushed the hood liner tighter in that area which seems to be enough to keep it from rubbing the plenum cover. Just thought I'd share. Sorry no pictures right now.

Someone wanted to see a brace with S/C. Probably wanted to see a Saleen or KB.
The brace is from MossMotors. Looks great in my opinion. Its very light and sturdy. Also got 2 of the 3 in trunk.
The liner does touch the brace but not enough to do anything for the past 6000mi.

I have an '07 cover on my '06. Also have the steeda chrome moly brace. I had to do two mods. The front studs are different, they will go, but the front of the cover distorts down a bit. I just cut off the front (about 4 in") or the lower area up to the step so it looks clean.
Then I took off the two rear grommets and reinstalled to give me the 1/4" clearance to clear tower brace. No issues, and nobody notices till I point it out. Hope this helps

ORIGINAL: 05 Mustang GT
I removed the hood liner. Eventually will reinstall, someone had a post about this some time ago. The used 3M super 77?? adhesive.
For the mean time no liner.

that very much. I would be afraid of the ever so dreaded paint seperation
from the engine heat. Ford put it there for some reason?

My hood liner rubber my plenum cover as well on my 06. I folded a old washcloth & kept it on top of the cover while driving, removed when @ a show or while cleaning.
Here's my final fix;
