O5 Stang Steering noise --power steering not needed :(
Jeez I thought i was out of problems at the end of January, I guess its just about time for more. Stang only has alittle over 4000 miles. I filled up the power steering close to its max and its still making a weird noise when i turned the wheel. It feels like I'm driving an old beater, wth can it be? I really dont want to take my car to ford unless its something really bad, because they always seems to scratch a part of my car, everytime it goes there, and obviously im not going to make them paint the front or rear bumper since it'll just chip later on

I have the same problem with the noise whenever you turn the wheel.....
I am 17,000 on mine and the noise since 12,000
I had a GM years ago and it made the same noise and it started to get hard to turn the wheel....
I will stop by one day when I am in the area to see if they can fix it while I am there.JT

oh that sucks, anyone know why? or how to fix it? i dont wanna take it to ford to have it sit around for a few days, its my only car and they dont give me rentals, but i also dont want to lose steering power when doing 60mph+ on the highway

i took my car in because of this within the first 1000 mi., and they said it was normal to have some whine when steering...but i thought they were trying to go cheap on me or something so i asked my uncle (who has had numerous mustangs in the past) if it was normal about the steering whining when you turn the wheel and he said he has never owned a mustang that didnt whine when you turned the wheel and he said mustangs were notorious for this steering whine...so if it doesnt feel harder to turn the wheel i wouldent worry about it, but if it does it is probably your power steering pump

oh um i dunno about that, my girls stang doesnt whine at all and its an 03 so it should have it according to that, that just weird, Why would a mustang's steering whine and not others?

I have the same problem. It sqeaks when you turn the wheel, right? I have an '06 GT with 20,000 miles on it. I took it to my Ford dealer and was told I need a new steering column. They also said the problem was not terminal, I could go on for another 10,000 miles or so.
