My car has been ina mustang performanceshop since yesterday and it will be done today around 1000. I thought it would be yesterday but they said you do not get in a hurry when installing gears. So I just hope all this time will pay off for me. I got the Ford Racing Gears because I have heard to many nightmare stories about Motive. To behonest I think mystock gears 3:55 whined a little bit.

Like most people on this subject, I too hesitated about installing 4.10's. Way to many stories about bad installs, which I think causes the whine.

Mine goes in Wednesday for the install, FRPP's. I'll be on pins + needles til I drive it and hopefully have no whine!!

I had 3.73 put in my 01 and they made no sound. Take it back and have them doit right. In the mean time don't drive too far at one time, you'll burn up the gears and then it'll be a case for small claims court and everybody know how much fun that could be

Well, Ihave an update. The installer says he tried over and over to align the gears correctly and got them as best as he could. He spoke with tech support forMotive and did everything they told him to do. My installer says the gears just don't align the way they should and therefore are faulty. He almost called me to ask about putting the originals back in, but held out a chance that Motive's tech support knew what they were talking about. All in all it seems everyone did their part, but the gears should test out of tolerance when they are returned. I'll know Wednesday when the replacements are installed. If I get the same problem again I'm putting the originals back in and forgetting about it.

If gears are noisy they weren't installed correctly....PERIOD!!. As far as reinstalling your 3.55's, Bad idea, because I assure you when they took out your stock gears they didn't jot down your shim sizes and reinstalling gears that already have a wear pattern is just asking for trouble. Gears are a great bang for the buck, don't get turned off because someone didn't install them correctly

1+ I wouldn't have them reinstall the gears! Wait until the replacements come in and have it done properly.

The reputable shop by me wont even install motives, all he will do is frpp. It may be possible that even done right, in some cases motives just have a slight whine to them. I dont know but i never hear of frpp gears whining, so if i ever get some that will be the route i go.
