Change tranny fluid 2-3 times for more flush?
Im only at 6K miles, won't be changing tranny fluid for another 10K, but I noticed on tranny fluid posts that people were saying "it filled with 3.2 quarts (Based on the manual, same principle for auto)".
No one seemed to mention that thats only about half, or a little more than half, of the overall fluid content.
Therefore fluids are being mixed.
Should the fluid be changed about 3 times to get more of the old out?
Also, I notice people said "do it when the engine is hot". I always thought tranny fluid, opposite of engine oil, should be changed when cold so that all of the fluid has traveled back down to the bottom of the tranny after being suspended up top due to the pumps?
Thanks/spanks you!

Is this for a manual or auto? Also i didn't know the first tranny change is at 16K miles, i thought it was at 60K miles unless your upgrading. I know if it's for a auto, you can't really get all of it unless you drain it, add more, then drain it like you said, or you can pull the auto out, take the torque converter out to drain the fluid from it and so on. I've heard that the one places that say they can do a total auto tranny flush and drain is BS due to the torque converter.

If it's and auto it holds approx 12 quarts. There are a couple of ways to do a complete fluid exchange, the easiest is to take it to a shop that can do a flush, like, I'm sorry but have to say it, Jiffy Lube. They'll have a machine that connects to the trans cooler and will do a fluid exchange while the car is running.
The other way is to disconnect the trans cooler intake line to the radiator, put a hose on the line and put that hose in bucket. get a funnel and open about 10 or 11 bottles from a case of ATF then have a friend start the car. Just keep adding the fluid to the trans at about the same rate as the fluid coming out of the hose until you have at least one bottle left. Reconnect your trans cooler line and top off the fluid. This is the same principle as the flush machine just a little more involved, and a little more messy.
Manual trans is just drain and fill. While hot...
