Default Difference between BBK & C&L CAI?

Hey guys, I am ready to order my CAI and tune! I have been reading all these posts about who's tune is better and who's intake is better. Personally i am exhausted reading about who's is bigger and better! Not really but you get my point!Today i called one of the two Tuners that everyone raves about on this site and asked a few basic questions and to my surprise he spoke highly of the BBK CAI with a tune of course! I didnt really get into detail why he recommended this one other than it was a metal CAI and costs less than the other well known Metal CAI. Two questions to you ALL!!!!! #1 Does anyone have the BBK CAI?????? and #2 If I understand the whole concept on CAI's.......Is the average JOE really gonna notice a 1 or 2 maybe even 5 HP gain compared to other Intakes? From what i gather it is really the tune produced by the tuner that really supports the horsepower! Not really the tube itself other than a softer plastic that could collaps like our stock air intake. Just honest opinons please and dont brag about how much Bigger and Better Yours is! Joking Thanks in advance

A guy at work has the BBK and it looks nice but no tune with it so I can't comment there.

Why not go with anderson ford cold air kit comes ready to bolt on no tune needed. I have had no problems at all. I did retune with sct 93 octane. These two together work for me well. Here is a pic of the cold air and the bbk throttle body.

You are right in that the tune is the biggest part of it. Still, the stock air box is very restricitive. Just swapping the tube doesn't do anything really but changing the filter to an open type and walling off the engine heat some gives the main improvement in the CAI. The metal is nicer as it looks better but hard plastic will do the same thing. I went with the BBK because I got it off Ebay at a deal and my TB came as a package with a tuner at $300. The Diablo doesn't come with tunes for the BBK but if you're getting a custom tune, you're set. Right now I'm running the C&L tune with mine and it works fine. After some more mods I'm getting a custom tune.

No you arent going to notice the 1-5 HP difference IMO....I like knowing I have the extra couple HP though.....The tune is the main part....I do not think that there are many differences with the BBK over C&L in all reality so either will work just fine. If the tuner, be it b ama or Brenspeed recommends it then I see no reason not to get it. I hear the steeda is also very good. Then again it might be that the vendor is trying to clear the old stock off the shelves...I doubt it though. You will be extremely happy with either tuner and combo that you decide on. Good luck!
