From what I gathered, they are stuck on with the 3M sticky tape and there are 2 pins used to keep it aligned.

You say you had your mirrors painted ? I was told by a body shop that they could not paint the stock mirrors because the plastic was pebbled. Did you buy AEM mirrors or paint the original plastic ?

wow, that sounds like a body shop that doesn't want to work for their money. Being pebbled is no excuse, you can either paint it and keep the texture, or sand it smooth (smooth would look better IMO) and paint it. Try another shop, they might charge you more because of the labor involved in sanding them, or you could sand them smooth yourself and take them to the shop to paint.

My mirrors are smooth, just a quick scuff is all that will be needed. I just need to find the time now.
