Rims: A question of width and offset

Rims: A question of width and offset
The search function is not being kind to me. I'm into my third week of ownership of a '07 GT and I'm compiling my list of mods I'd like to do for my ride. New wheels are obviously one of the first mods that people do and I'm no exception. I see a lot of good rim choices on some of the rides that the folks have here. They do a good job of listing the diameter and width, but not the offset. I would like to do a staggered set up of 9's in front and 10's in the back or run a 9 to 9.5 wheel at all four corners, but I absolutely do not want my wheels and tires to stick out past the upper edge of the wheel well. It's just not a good look in my opinion. All the Mustangs I've seen in my area have the wrong offset and the wheels protrude past the wheel well. Just not a good look in my opinion. I've tried to gather info from Roush, Saleen and Steeda as to the offset on their rims, since they seem to have the look I want, but it's still a little hazy as to what is correct for a given width.
So my question to those that have the wider rims and have the wheels sitting flush with or a little inside of the wheel well, what is the optimum offset for a 9 and 10 inch rim.
Thanks in advance for entertaining this 'Stang n00b.

With a 9" rim, a positive off set of 24mm or more will do. With a 10" rim a + offset of 35mm or more will be fine. The pic is a 9" rim, at the rear, with a 24mm offset.

Thanks for the reply and the pic, drbobvs.
Here's a good example of the problem I have. I found this pic from another post of a Foose Stallion:
This is the look I'm looking for. This 'Stang has the Nitrous wheels on it, and while I don't particularly like those rims, I'd like to know the offset. Of course, when I go to the Foose site, they list the width and diameter, but not the offset. If I knew the offset, I could apply that info to a set of rims I would like. That's just an example, though.
A set of rims I'd like to get my hands on are the American Racing Razors, but they are a +24 offset. Shelby uses those on their CS6 and they poke out quite a bit past the rear wheel well. Although I understand they are planning to make a +40 offset of those rims. Will wait and see on that one.
[EDIT] Meh...I just remembered there is a specific forum for this type of question. My appologies for posting in the wrong forum[sm=smiley9.gif]

Those ARE my rims, (see my sig pic). I don't know what width they use but mine, like I mentioned, are Shelby Razors 18x9 with +24mm offset (see thimbnail). My tires are 255/45 BFG KDW2. The 255 in these tires looks much wider in person (see the sig pic again). Many people have asked what width the tires are and are suprised that they are "only" 255mm.

The CS6 is indeed running 255/45's. Looking at the pic of your ride, the wheel looks flush, but on the CS6, it totally looks like it's why out from the wheel well. Pictures , I guess, can be decieving.
And thanks, Andrew, for the info on your set-up. May I ask what your running up front?
