Gears dont require a tune for anything but fixing the speedo. Ford will do your gears for a hefty price and probably F it up in the process. I had my 4:10s installed buy a speciality shop and you cant even tell the rear end was busted open until you drive the car. Trust me when I tell you that if you get gears you will tune soon to get that extra push we all love so much. Again the tune and the CAI are 15 min swaps if you need service of any kind from the dealer. So I say GET THE GEARS!!!!!!!! JMO [sm=badbadbad.gif]

i would NOT reccomend this. Once you crack open that case it looks like brain surgery, if you mess up the slightest bit you need new ones. Gears is probably the most underrated install out there. I wouldnt even let a dealership install them, only a specialty shop.

Can you install your own gears? I see install kits so I wonder...

+10 This is a mod that NEEDS to be done CORRECTLY. You possibly tear the rear end up or have tremendous gear whine which arent among the fun things to have with this car.

They dont void warranties. They just wont fix your ring and pinion and if you have another issue with the car that they can attribute to the gear change, they wont cover it.
What is up with the voided warranty myth..... There is not some black list of Ford owners that wont ever get warranty work.
I have had many mods done at my dealer including gears and KB blower at 10 PSI.
Just get the gears if you want them, they dont void warranties.
My dealer wants to see my time slips every time I am in there......

Sorry dude won't talk you out of it. Matter of fact I will direct you to www.fordracingparts.com and let their big flashing banner of NOWAVAILABLE WITH A FACTORY WARRANTY convince you that because you want them, NOW you must have them!

The ONLY thing we'd talk you out of is trying to do the gear install yourself. Take it to a reputable shop and have them do it. If you try to do it yourself, you're liable not to shim it right, line it up right, all sorts of fun stuff. Pay the price for someone else to do the job right the first time, or else it'll end up costing you dearly later.

If you just bought the car, talk to the dealership about dropping the extended warrenty and getting your money back. Because it's new and you are still under factory warrenty, you can get rid of the warrenty. Now this doesn't mean they will drop it and give you 1500 cash. They will send the 1500 to the bank to take off your loan. I just went through the process...........
