5.4 Ford Lightning in '05 Mustang

RE: 5.4 Ford Lightning in '05 Mustang
The swap would be alot easier in the 96-04 mustangs,.you could probably do it in a S197, but you might have to get the GT500 motor mounts, a lightning EEC and wiring, or a pre 04 mustangcomputer and wiring and definitley a tune for it. I put a 03 5.4 in my 97 Stang, it wasn't that bad at all. The headers on the lightning are the same on the F150's and mustangs, you will most likely have your stock mid pipe bent here and there to make it align up. I put ford racing shorty headers for a mustang on my 5.4. With all bolt ons and PP stage 2 heads, i was pushing 290rwhp and 366rwtq. Also the 5.4 weights around 25lbs more and you will see the car nose dive when you drop the motor in, yes it does make a difference. i added a tubular k member to shed some weight and put the stock springs in the car, with my lowering springs the inner fender was rubbing the tires, more like sitting on the tires. Also the 5.4 has a taller deck height, so i did have to modify my hood but it was only minimal, so you didn't see my motor with the hood closed, but with a SC on top adding around another 5-6 inches, you will have to cut a big hole in your hood so it can stick out or buy a big cowl hood.
more or less it would probably be a headache andcostlyto install one in a S197, not as hard or expensive on the earlier stangs, can be done though. i think your better off adding a saleen SC to your car.
