Read some about people stroking their engines. What gains do you really get out of this? I read one post that says if you plan on supercharging, don't stroke it because of the compression ratio. So if not supercharging it, could you turbocharge it? I've read several posts and not seen a price on just the parts yet for the project, anyone know an estimate? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm trying to find out about this because I don't know anything about it...

Stroking the motor will increase the displacement. larger displacement engines will create higher HP and Torque. For instance, Saleen has come out with their new model, The Boss 302 Parnelli Jones version. It has a stroked 4.6 Litre motor. That motor now has a displacement of 5.0 Litres. They also ported the heads, added higher lift camshafts and a few other mods. They claim 400 HP at the rear wheels. That's a 100 HP gain without a supercharger. You can stroke your motor and also add a supercharger. The compression ratio is controlled by the piston type. There are several companies that make dished pistons for the stroker 4.6L. If you want to stroke your motor and supercharge it, just make sure you get the right pistons for your application. Stroker kits I've seen cost anywhere between $1800 and $2500 for the parts only. I would'nt recommend doing the install yourself unless you haveexperience. Take it to a good shop and have it done.

well, it depends on the thickness of the shafts you're stroking, and the viscosity of the lubricants utilized in the process.
