RE: footwell lights
I'm confused about step
4) Use fishtape, a coat hanger or some other stiff wire to feed from the driver’s side foot well to the passenger’s side . (You’ll see a wiring harness there and the goal is to pull the new wires along this harness.
The previous step leads me to belived I should be going from the passenger side to the drivers side. Do you simply tap the passenger side lightinto the wires that lead to the drivers side?

you need to pull the wires from the pasenger side to the driver's side. I used a piece of fish tape and pushed it from the driver's side to the passengers side along the wiring harnass. Once in the passenger's side, tape the wires to the fish tape and then pull it from the drivers side by pulling the fish tape back out and the wires that are taped to it will come along.
Once you have the wires in the driver's side and the passenger's side, splice the lamps ont it and tape them up in place. I used the wiring harnass and taped the lamps to the existing wiring harnass. When you are done, it will look like a factory job.

drbobvs, couple of questions regarding using the neon lights:
1. Looking at Crutchfield - did you use the "9 inch Accent Tubes"?
2. How are the bulbs being kept in place?I'd envision some sort of mount, but I'm also reading that tape was used.
Thaks for thehelp, and the idea!

I think I used the 15" tubes under the dash. I mounted them with 1)heavy duty double sided tape and 2)small metal "L" brackets and screws.
Under the hood are the 20" tubes on the hood liner. Those are mounted with small nuts and bolts. 10" tubes on the plenum cover screwed into the cover. 8" tubes by the air filter and under the fender lip in the engine compartment, also mounted with small nuts and bolts.

RE: footwell lights
Very nice write up. I did this some time back but added a little twist different than yours. I used a combination of 8" neon tubes and leds (wedge base) and tied them all the way to the overhead coutesy lamp switches. The footwell lights operatae EXACTLY with and like the overhead courtesy lamps. I can turn on the footwell lights individually with the switches on the overhead console or they go on automatically with the opening of the doors. The lights in the overhead were replaced with leds from www.superbrightleds.com This creates a really cool mood lighting effect.
