Default 2007 Coupe radio removal

I'm stuck on getting the "Instrument Panel Center Finish Panel" off. The hang up is the lower right **** (HVAC control) electrical connector. It has this weird connector I haven't seen plus you have to come at it from the side since you can't pull the panel out far enough to disconnect it.

I've seen the instructions for the 2005 where the HVAC unit stays in the car and you pull the panel over it, but for the 2007 at least it seems that the controls are stuck to the panel.

This is embarassingly frustrating so any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if its the same way, but there is a grey latch thing that you have to use a flat head or something to lift up on. Its a slide latch. And then to reattach it, you have to insert it back in the slot with the grey lever latch on top and slide it down and that will lock it into place. Mine broke so its a little easier to do now. lol

Actually the above post is partially right. You slide the grey latch DOWN - at the same time pulling the connector straight back from the switch. When it begins to move, you'll understand how the latch action works. I've had to take mine out numerous time unfortunetly.

Good luck!

Steve

Thanks for the help. You saved me a bit of time poking, prodding, and head scratching.

For the record, you push in the little black thing below the gray thing to allow the gray thing to move. You then rotate it down and it all becomes painfully obvious and you feel like an idiot.

Thanks again!

I've actually had the same problem, what's the exact way of correctly removing this silly connector? Mine cracked and fell off sounpluging it isnot a problem any more, however a detailed explenation on the forum might be a good idea.

How'd you dig this up?

Also, are you sure you reconnected everything correct/didn't cut any wires?
