We will not know what it looks like until its close to release.....Ill make my mind up when I see actual pics of the car, not all these photo shopped versions.........I wish this giugiaro concept and all the threads it generates would GO AWAY!! Ford will hit a hole in one with the looks of the '09 mustang. All s197 owners would agree that they did with our cars. Cant wait to see the real version of that car.

Agree, that's a mess, what happened to "clean lines" UGH. We already have a fast back, eliminate thhe smalldeck lid? That's stupid. S197 is just done so right. Let hope they make subtle improvements; powertrain upgrades and leave it at that.

my wishlist items would be quarter sheetmetal ONLY...lose the hockeystick(would look better with reversed cstripes without them) and bring the quarters out a bit up top- ('hips' as they call it these days) more like 69~70 models...oh yes- and SHR flush louvers standard instead of the quarter glass
I just seriously hope they dont do a 1971 style or 1974 style drastic 'improvement'...I disagree with the 'stale' comments though- If they still built 1969 fastbacks today, they would still sell.
Hey- the Mona Lisa didnt need a haircut to stay popular for generations some things reach a pinnacle thats hard to improve upon- whatever ford does, I hope they would have the sense to be the first car company ever to allow ordering 'optional last years' skin- cant go wrong then. these cars are the best bang for the buck ever, and a radical change in looks could really hurt sales. listen to enthusiasts, not marketing accountants saying how often a 'refresh is required'...I dont totally dislike the 71, but its styling didnt hold a candle to 69~70...I think collectability/desirability kinda reflects that too. they got a pretty/rigid/high performance chassis, only thing I personally disliked lookswise was the quarterglass- SHR louvers look factory, they should offer them from Ford...optional 'hips' sheetmetal would be a cheap to implement option(heck they run v6/v8/shelby mustangs and mazda6's concurrently on one line) and I think it would be the preffered way to 'test the waters' on a new model, rather than dumping a 4 cyl 1974mustangII in our laps and say here it is, take it or leave it... or some european thing with triangular taillamps for that matter

I actually like the looks of it.... got to change....the challenger and camaro are coming out..... thus, change is good! How about 350Hp though!! I read 312 hp for the '08 bullit - are you kidding me.... why is anyone out there buying shelby gt's, and bullits? Not worth the dough. Just get a GT and make it your own "shelby or bullit!"
Then again, heh, I got a CS/GT!!!

wow! No offense, but you guys are nutz! That this is JUST what the mustang needs. I like the s197 don't get me wrong, but the lower fastback look is just plain SICK. At times I think the roofline of the current car is just too bubbley and reminds me of the Mustang II cars of the mid / late 70's.

My main complaints about the s197 are:
The roofline - see above: It looks too bubbley. The "full" fastback looks is WAY sleeker looking.
the car looks "chunky". The GT500's looks sleeker with the rocker panels painted black. The GT's just look to big to me.
