Default Pics of new motor and KB set-up...

Finally got around to posting some pics of the new motor and KB set-up. She is running strong and just breaking her in easy right now. In a few weeks, we'll turn her up a bit. Currently running 13 psi for break-in...

That's what happens when you tap a piston...lol - That was a rebuilt iron shortblock with Probe pistons. I ended up blowing 2 rebuilt motors in the last 2 years trying to find the perfect combination for the street. I like the stroker kits, but I personally believe the higher compression is what gets a lot of people in trouble on these modular motors. I really tightned things up this time and went with about an 8-7 to 1 and it is dead on. Though stroked, quite as a mouse even when cold and no slap or vibration at all. The tighter compression is much better IMO for big boost numbers where I like to be.

Sorry the pics are so bad - time for a new camera I suppose. Droped this one and can't focus anymore...lol

It's not the camera on the dash - it is blue CF... yes - it took me awhile to get used to it...lol Looked great in the box and once it was on - I was stuck with it cause it's epoxy on.

I must have missed the post of how you put a hole in your piston.

THAT motor was due to a terrible set of heads form JDM Engineering. They forgot to replace the valve guides and left the stockers ground 1/2" short after the port job. Valve tapped a piston in the first 100 yards of driving it. It was a nasty ordeal and I ended up having to sue them over it and won. Lot of info about it on some other sites, but never talked about it much here. Obviously I am not a JDM fan...lol (see avatar)

Hmmm...Higher compression for higher boost? I thought one would do the opposite. Lower compression and create a bigger combustion chamber to stuff more air and fuel into. It also keeps temps lower to avoid melt downs.

As I said in my post, The opposite IS better and why I really tightened it up this time. The problem is most people aren't building their own shortblocks and having them set as they like - they are buying kits and unfortuenately most of the kits seem to be in the 9 to 1+ range.

Many of the shortblocks are set up big so it looks pretty on the dyno...i.e. makes so and so boost with a 3" pulley. The higher the compression, the more boost will be made with the same size pulley. For example, I am runing about 1 1/2 psi less per pulley size than most guys I know with rebuilds.

But you are 100% correct - mine is way safer and I can run 24 psi with no problems and they would be charting into dangerous water up there even with a built SB.
