Installing your own supercharger instead of a shop

Installing your own supercharger instead of a shop
Those of you that installed your own supercharger instead of the shop. Did you just use the tune that came with it, or did you take it to a shop afterwards to have it dyno tuned?
I'm asking because a friend of mine is a pretty good mechanic and has installed severa superchargers before, and is offering to basically install it for a case of beer and the experience. I am going to go with the Whipple, and I know it comes with a stock tune. Should i just use that tune or would you still recommend taking it somewhere else after install to have it custom tuned?

#1, your gonna LOVE the whipple and the
install is pretty straight foward. A case of beer sounds
like a great deal (no one supplied my beer, lol).
#2 You'll load the FRPP tune during the install and whether
you get a custom tune some time there after, will be a judgement
call on your part.
i like the frpp tune and i may or may not ever get
a custom tune......we'll have to wait and see on that.....

It's not that hard. The mechanics of it is really straight forward. It's the wiring that needs to be done that screws up most people, so he needs to be able to read and understand the instructions, but it's not that hard at all.
Many people run the FRPP tune without any problems.

that's what i was thinkin'
you would not want to be drinking WHILE doing
the install...... it requires your undivided attention

When i got my procharger i installed it myself and it was fairly simple (we happen to be a performance manufacture so that helps) I also loaded the can tune and then tweaked that tune on our dyno and its running good.

Def. get it dyno tuned. Obvously load the canned tune in there, but no doubt get yourself a proffessional dyno tune. Thats like putting ketchup on your steak, rather than A-1...LOL!....seriously though, for the safety, and top performance of the whipple, GET A PRO DYNO TUNE!
