Dealership found a wierd aftermarket relay installed on my Stang.

Hmmmm. Not very theft resistant if the OEM relay is in the
glove box. Just pull the non-OEM looking relay with the antenna
and reinsert the stock starter relay that was left in the glove box?
Or pull the aftermarket and replace with the fan relay, seeing
how they are the same, start the car, replace the fan relay
to its proper location and drive off?
A relay that replaces the starter relay? Not very hi security.
Heck, just jump the starter at the solenoid as in the old days.
I know that PATS is there, and is MUCHO better at securing
the car than some thief removable relay and leaving the OEM
in the glovebox? PATS is so much better than some aftermarket,
key fob activated starter relay.

This is off topic, but can someone explain how I can test a relay using a voltmeter? My cruis is still not working and I want to check all relays associated with the pcm. There are a few in the engine compartment fuse box i need to check.
I wish they had a more detail description instead of pcm #1 and pcm #2!

Well, here is a picture of the relay w/ antenna. The fan now runs at high speed, but.....it seems to run non stop and doesn't shut off at all. Is that normal this time of year? Even after driving down the interstate at speed it is still running when I pull off. Should it be regulating and turning off at some point?

When I used to work on airplanes we did "swaptronics." Find another relay with the same marking on top and trade places. Either the problem went away, something else quit working, or nothing changes (=no relay malfunction). Otherwise, you can check the coil resistance, then the contacts (both open side, then you have to energize the coil to check the closed contacts)...see, isn't "swaptronics" easier?

the only thing is now your car, with low miles, has over heated that has got to be good for it.

But yeah, it still leaves an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
BTW, I just checked and started the car now that it has sit and the fan did not start, so maybe it is regulating and doesn't run untill the needle gets to halfway. I'll see what happens tomorrow morning after driving 15 miles down the freeway.

if you have a custom tune, it might be set up this way.....
