Default Buying Rims/Tires through dealer - any brands I should look out for?

It sounds like I'm going to be getting my 07 GT this weekend and I'm going to have them add on new wheels and tires to my financing to free some funds up for other things I'm adding to the car. Are there any brands of wheels and/or tires I should look out for?

I briefly looked at some of the rims they can get and they all look pretty nice, but i'm not sure what materials are good etc. Also, do you think 18x9's would be good all around or would you recommend 18x10 in the back with like 18x9's in the front? For tires, I hear Nitto 555's and BFG KDW-2's are good ... but I am just not sure on rims, since there's many brands out there.

to really answer that question..... how r u gonna use the car? what mods will you make?

if your going to add a lot of power get the 18 x 10 for the rears and put some fat Nitto's on there....

if not gonna be raced much then stick to the 18x9 and 255/45 or 265/40 all around.. you can rotate them and extend their life.

JMHO!

I will be adding whipple supercharger and upgrading my suspension. I do not plan to drag race really. I still want a somewhat comfortable ride, and a fun street vehicle, be able to take corners at 50+ mph etc, and I also want to be somewhat safe if the off times that it rains here in AZ.

Get the BFG KDW 2s or Nitto NT555's run 255/45/18's in front and rear run 275/40/18's with 18x9 in front and rear 18x10.

I heard the BFG's don't hook to well, yes or no?

I agree with Manystyles....Nitto 555's are awesome. Had em on my sixxer. Great tire!

I have the KDWs - I had a hard time keeping the thing on the road with the stock tires - now I have great grip. I am very satisfies with the KDWs.

You are going to get raped by the dealership on the price of wheels, a friend at work bought 20" wheels and tires from the dealership and he ended up paying around $4500 for them! 18's are cheaper than 20's, but you would be better off buying from somewhere other than the dealer. I got my wheels for just under $500 new. The tires are the pricey part.

In the long run (5+ years financed)you will pay less at the dealership unlessyou have cash in hand to go buy them at a local shop. Most people dont.Financing at a dealership is usually under 10%, when you use a credit card most people dont have an interest rate less that 14.99%. Most peoples credit cards are 20% or greater.

i'd go with 18x9 in front and 18x10 in back

as far as brands go just make sure you don't go with something that has a repuatation of the chrome peeling or something of that affect.
