Default Thunking and Cross Member Brace Poll

I created this poll to see the effect of adding a cross member brace to cure the dreaded thunking sound.

BTW, the Ford part numbers for the brace and nuts are

1ea Crossmember# 4R3Z5025A
4ea Crossmember nuts# W711553-S440
Tightened nuts to 48Nm or 35ft/lbs

After Market Brace(s)

CHE Performance 4-Point K-Member Brace

I haven't responded to the poll, but did take a look and as far as I can tell, no cross member brace. As for the thunking, I think I have it. I figured it was the normal sound the car makes when going over small bumps or the expansion joints in the road.

As for the cross member brace, what are the benefits (besides apparently getting rid of the thunking noise) in general? The CHE website had the following...

The CHE Performance K-Member Brace for the 2005 Ford Mustang solidifies the front suspension by linking the front control arm mounts together. Additionally, our brace utilizes 4 mounting points for added rigidity and tortional strength.
Hope this isn't too much of a hijacking, but I'll double check the thunking noise in the morning.

You forgot to add, "I don't have the thunk, but someone in the know could drive my car and tell me that I do."
