I got my short throw shifter installed the other day, a little notchy but I like it. I noticed though, like when i'm in gear, if i press it gently forward to back I can move it front to back maybe a quarter inch or so, like there's a little play front to back. Although it's very tight side to side in any gear, no play really.

Is this normal... or should I have the guy that installed it see if something needs to be tightened down more?

Same. a little side to side wiggle, but that's all.
There's two bolts attaching the stick under the boot and they're known to rattle loose (mebbe that's why you havethat play?).
Last time I tightned mine I used a dab of loctite and haven't had a problem since.
