I think the red wire looks good on the red car. Definitely different. I would worry about scratching the paint though. Any chance of getting pics of how you mounted the pins?

I used to have a 66 Stang with hood pins, the cables were plastic coated and I never had a paint issue.

Although I can't show you where they are mounted on the 06 ( I don't have it any more) I can show you where I mounted the pins, My 07 has the same stuff under the hood.
The area that I put the hood pin was on the radiator support. As I remember, they are not exactly in the same spot on each side , so a little adjustment was in order to get them the same on each side.
The rope had a soft plastic coating and did not scratch the paint. Rice? Yea it's rice, But I liked the look. I don't recall ever asking anyone’s opinion (ever) about what they thought I should do (or not do) to my car, If I wanted to do it, I did it, If people liked it or didn't like it , that was their problem. It's my car.
