factory radio no shut off probelm
Hey I am throwwing this out to everyone since it is not model specific. If you leave the radio on, turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition the radio will stay on until the door is opend, no problem.
However our stang just developed a problem that the radio will not shut down at all. Anyone had this problem? What was the culperate or what did you do to remedy the problem

RE: factory radio no shut off probelm
Hi,
this is a well known issue with the factory radio unit: it is the reason why some cars will not start (dead battery) after sitting a few days.
I asked my Ford dealer, he was not aware of anything (as usual...) regarding radio not shutting off after you leave the car.
So the only fix so far is to make sure you manually turn off the radio before you shut off the engine.

well also first is does it shut off after a while or stay on all the time. IF so not the door switch. I
Second have you added any thing to the dash at all, What you have is called a short to power which means the radio has shorted to a wire that has constont power and then by passes the turn off relay
even if you turn it off you still will have a parisitc drain on the battery. So if you can answear those questions i can then continue on threw the maze and help you.

Try removing your Acc delay relay from the SJB.
This will determine if you have some crossed wires
or if your SJB is bad. There have been known issues
with the SJB getting wet. When the radio wont shut
off, does your windows still go up and down and
can you still adjust your rear view mirrors? The shop
manual has a specific step thru troubleshooting
routine for the radio not shutting off. You can get
shop manuals for you stang from eBay or take it
to your dealer. You have serious problems that
are just going to get worse if your SJB is getting
wet.

My Shaker 500 has this same problem, neither door will help it shut off but repeatedly trying it does eventually work. Does your's also "lock up" no sound & no response from any button but the display says it's working fine?
The dealers here offer the oh so helpful advice that they will remove it & send it away for testing for up to 2 weeks. In the meantime my 2 year old vehicle has to go around with a huge hole in the dash.
This problem started when the car was only 10 months old & only happens every now & then.
I'll check for a damp relay but as the car doesn't know what rain is that may not be it.

We have door switches? I thought Ford did away with those along time ago? I cant remember seeing a pin switch for the doors, I believe its built into the latch assembly.
