OEM rear PanHard bar

OEM rear PanHard bar
Anyone know why the stock V6 panhard bar is full
of steel shot? It makes it weigh a LOT more than
one thats empty and hollow. Any ideas? More weight?
How about those cast weights bolted to the rear axle
housing by the lower shock mounts? In this day of
of trying to get the best gas milage and running around
with an empty trunk, whats all this rear end weight about?

RE: OEM rear PanHard bar
Its about getting more weight, more traction, more safety. Remember, these cars are designed for daily drivers who just want a new car, rather than for enthusiasts. hence why we mod them...
I replaced my panhard bar last night (I got a GT, same bar with the sand stuff inside). I banged the panhard against the ground and it certainly flexed more than the new hollow lighter one I put in.
Anyways, yes it was very weird to feel sand or something rolling around in there.
