Approximately how much do the Ford service departments charge for changing the automatic transmission fluid in the new Mustangs? I really don't like not having a dipstick or a way to refill the fluid myself. Are there any private garages that have the special tool needed to fill the auto transmissions? Thanks, gentlemen.

I know one of you mechanically-inclined fellows who work on your GTs all the time has to know something about changing the auto transmission fluid on the S197 GTs. I talked to a local mechanic here who said that Ford has designed it so that even he cannot refill the transmissions once they have been drained.

What are you folks doing to get around this?

i got the dealer down to 125.00after a good friend in service talked to the boss.

I had my car in for service at a dealerfew weeks ago. It has 29k miles on it. I requested to have the tranny flushed. Guess what? The dealer literallyrefused to do it. LOL

They told me, "Your car doesnt have enough miles on it, dont worry about it." lol
