The reason Ford recommends 5-20 is because of Bearing clearances, GM uses 5-30
Ford tolerances are a little tighter. You can use it as long as you don't make the oil pump try to do max output, like putting your foot on the floor. Then if you have a thicker oil than the tolerances allow , you will get insufficient oiling to the bearings and/or excessive bearing wear, dew to trying to stuff 5lbs of potatoes in a 3 lb sack.
And one more thing, Ford tells you to run 5-20 and your engine blows up, and you have a 5-30 sticker on the door, They may or may not void your warranty.
And lastly, Nothing what so ever may happen with the thicker oil in your car.
It's your car, do what you want.
