If you do not get any vibration upon applying brakes and they are not glazed over, you will only be compromising the rotors by having them machined and risking that they will not be done correctly or that subsequent warping will occur. New pads when doing new rotors, sure; but new (or machined) rotors when doing new pads; I don't agree with that one.
btw, how many miles on your car? are you planning on doing rear pads as well? or soon?

I'll be doing rear pads soon. The reason I rushed the front is Ill be going empty-mountain-road driving this weekend. I don't drive insanely fast, just spirited, but did not like the idea of squeeling/old pads while on a mountain road...

Can't say I'veheard of that one. I don't like "heat in the rotors", can't really see intentionally "hard braking".
Funny, I was able to get "police" versionin pads last time for an 03 taurus;only a few $$ more.

Not heat the rotors, season the pads by bringing them up
to temp for the first time with a controlled stop instead of
an Oh S*** Panic Stop when they are still new and green
Fairlane292. Read the instructions that come with the
next set of pads you buy and see what they recommend.

Yeah , I'll see what instr say on next time. I just didn't agree with or had heard of what was stated
"...hard braking". I think the point of what the initial gradual breaking is that you don't run out with fresh pads and be forced into doing exactly that, "hard breaking". ... I just test drive afterwards with several gradual applications of the brake and then a couple firm (but not killer stomping on them) to know all is good. ...but sure... I'll see what the mfg says on the next set.
