Let me tell ya, the Elbow stays!! 2 reasons, one with the stock tube the whole setup is as flimsy as hell, the whole shield and filter moves, with the elbow it becomes nice and solid, also I did believe it or not feel a difference at lower RPM
I am now convinced!!
Mmm, with the stock elbow my setup is very stable and "solid", nothing moves around.

Interesting for the low RPM comment, do you think the perceived difference is worth $100?

I was just thinking of going from the stock airbox with
an aftermarket flat K&N filter with some ducting
going down to the lower grill opening using one or
two of those brake duct flanges. Just to get the cold
air aspect of it, not the ram effect as much. Or has that
already been tried with no luck??

I do have another observation though, I tighten all the hose clamps as tight as I can almost before I think it is going to break, take it for a couple of runs and they all need tightening again?? How much is too tight on those clamps??

I did find that the stock tubing was a lil on the flexible side... I think the "solid" part comes from the fact that the stock airbox is bolted in with a 10 mm i believe, wherein the steeda kit snaps in with rubber gromets..

I got my Steeda CAI and tuner from Brenspeed.
As this this is Steeda CAI thread it's good to ask, how do you clean the airfilter ?
And how often ?
The OEM filter is replaced I quess every 20k miles or so.

I went to the stealership today for a 5000mileoil and filter.
I have 4958 miles and they tried to sell me a new air filter.
The OEM stock one was just fine. I dont drive dusty roads, thank you.
The washable filters usually have some sort of cleaning kit available.
DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR CAI FILTERS.

I noticed the hose clamps would loosen some on my Steeda intake. It still seemed to seal just fine.

I purchased two more hose clamps at the auto parts store and used those, too, just to be safe. It was a pretty cheap fix. I also changed the airfilter. It looks like the Steeda filter in the photo, but it is actually an AEM no oil filter.

Thats a good idea, also the non oiled filter is better for the mass air sensor I guess, Is the filter a standard size?? Your kit is different than mine I don't have any sticker on my sensor housing and I have a very much thinner gasker on top the air shield
