Default Wow Im lame. Car + tune can handle elevation right?

I can't believe I'm asking this. I think I'm taking this car way too serious.

But today Im driving up a mountain, spiritedly, and over the course of it I think I'll end up 7500 feet (Maybe 1.5miles) above Tucson, AZ.

LOL, the b@m@ tune isn't even tuned to my regular elevation, so I don't see why increased elevation would matter, but since we're such obsessive freaks I figured I'd blend in and ask.

I think the maf will make adjustments as you get higher. It should not be an issue. I have a weather station at the top of the ski lift. Here is the URL.

If you're headed up Mt. Lemmon, I think the ski lift is 9400 feet!

Watch out for street bikes, they tend to want to haul a$$ up that road and lean over the yellow line on curves.

Well, as you go up, the air gets thinner, so the O2 level for combustion would go down, they had problems with this in Aircraft Engines back in the day, which I think led to turbochargers on aircraft engines, to compact enough air to support combustion. I think as you go up, you may experience some issues, but I wouldn't sweat it...or just go get a turbo, and don't worry about it

Yup it was Mt Lemmon! And wow, the thin air really killed the power. I floored it in 3rd gear and even at 3K rpms the engine sloooowwwly built power. It was very very noticeable. Back down around 4,000 feet things were definately near back to normal.

And yup lots of bikes zooming around.

Corvette club was up there. Darn. I wish a mustang club took a ride up.

New rear end suspension was amazing. Felt like being in a roadster. The car absolutely hugged the road and every corner no questions asked.

Anyways, awesome weather station stats... I rode the ski lift too, i bet I saw your weather station at the top....

I would just email doug and ask him....he will be able to modify your tune perhaps if you are going to be at higher elevations alot....dont know though.

There isn't much a tune can do when there is no oxygen for combustion. Altitude=less oxygen=Loss of power, no matter what kind of engine it is.

I live in Denver, drove up to Estes Park, Trail Ridge Road, 14,000 feet. Breenspeed did my tune, and it works great, obviously the Stang would run better at lower elevations. Thing is when I pass and drive in the mountains every other car has to deal with the elevation. The Stang is a great car to drive in the mountains, accelerates easy, passes other vehicles well, as it handles fairly decent.

Yea, well I live in Colorado Springs at 6500' and I have driven to 9,000' and there is definately a loss of power. And when I drive to Pueblo at 5000' I really notice the difference. So like I said, the higher in altitude you go, the less power you will have and that aint no BS. And there aint no tune that's gonna give you the same HP at sea level than you will get at high altitudes. Less oxygen=less HP. Period.
