Is SCCA a good time? (And anyone going in Tucson this month?)
Thinking about going on June 24th...
Would you all recommend going? Too much competition? Dangerous? Embarrassing for a first timer? Hard on the car? Fun as hell? Nice people?
Im just torn right now.... I never do any social things involving cars, or social things at all lol.
How much do you get to prepare for the course? Seems like following cones can be very difficult and confusing.
And if you're in Tucson and going, lets ride there together. (Though the last results I read had only 1 late model Stang attending)

SCCA for autocrossing?
If that's the case you will have a blast. Be careful though - it's a gateway motorsport LOL.I enjoyed the time I spent doing it. As far as being a first timer - have no fear. There will be plenty of people willing to help you out. It's not too hard on the car and is very safe. You likely wont see speeds over 60-70mph but don't let that fool you - you will be BUSY! As far as competition, beyond the Stock class it's difficult. The mods that you need put you up against Evo's and WRX's and it's hard to keep up. SCCA has a rep for ridiculous rules and snobs, which is why I love NASA so much. If you're just wanting to have some fun you will be fine. For competition look into NASA-X if it's available in your region.
Have Fun!

Hmmm, never heard of NASA. Ill look around for that...
The higher classes does worry me though. I have CAI+tune, kmember+torque limiters, LCAs, panhard, panhard brace, rear sway, front bushings all of that junk, so Im sure ill be thrown into whatever its called, street modified? Where the evos, sti'sand, worse yet, miatas are.
I figure with strong tires thrown in I might be able to hold my own? I love the idea of autox because I hate modding the engine, and with autox it becomes more driver than anything. (and suspension).
I'll search around for NASA.
Anymore opinions will be appreciated!

Uhhhhhh - what k-member do you have?
Almost all the k-members available are meant for drag racing and street driving - not the much higher loads of autocrossing and road racing.

k-member or k-member BRACE? The lca's will screw you in classing - you'll likely be street mod

I guess speeding around on empty country roads has taken its toll on me and made me want more...
Stoneblue, thanks for the link. I'm checking it out.
