Interesting question about the vert versus coupe. The only other thread I found to date on this issue was a coupe (https://mustangforums.com/m_2858625/tm.htm) so I never thought about that, and it looks like a mix is getting the scratching.

Please keep those votes and replies coming. Thanks!!!

New 07 coupe here and have not noticed it on mine. It's black so it shows all.

So are you saying that as you close the lid, the bottom of the lid rubs against the top of the bumper and hence the scratches? Yes, want to make sure. Although I voted no.

I don't actually see the trunk lid hit the bumper, but yes, that's the only place I can imagine it's coming from. It's not that noticible on mine (yet anyway), but when the sunlight hits it good, it shows white there as you can see in the pics. The scratching is definately into the clear coat.

I just measured my 05 and it's nearly .5" from the trunk lid to the bumper so I would take it in especially if it's under warranty.

My 06 vert is OK. I have read other posts about the rear bumper cover moving alot at hi speeds, maybe this is when it is happening. There is a huge gap between trunk lid & bumper. Do you that have scratches drive at high speeds alot?
