Default am i a wheel weirdo?

When I picked out my 07 GT it was just about perfect for me...basic interior and stereo to keep the cost down, stick shift, white, factory 3:55s...but the dealer had slapped some chrome 18s on it. I noticed on the internet sticker that the car came with painted 17s so I had them swap the 17s back on; some of the reason to lower the price a little and also I preferred the look of the 17s but my main reason was the damn stick-on weights the 18s used. I prefer the bang-on wheel weights that give a better balance to the wheel and won't fly off, as opposed to stick-ons which are notorious for falling off and don't give as good a balance because they stick them wherever they can...on the flattest possible surface of the inside of the rim, or they hide it behind a spoke...I've balanced many a tire in my time (not anymore thank God) and always swore I'd never own a car with stick-ons. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I just neurotic for preferring a dependable dynamic balance to bling wheels?

I don't know a thing about wheel weights, but yeah, I'd say you were a little neurotic on that decision. [&:]

Myproblem would have been that they were dealer installed and not to the build. From what I understand, the shocks are factory tuned for the wheels, so you probably did make the correct decision, even if you did for the wrong reason.

Really..... what were you thinking? Hammer on damage the wheel permanetly while stick on dont.
BTW my factory 18's came with stick on. Haven't fallen off yet with 12k on the clock.

won't anyone take my side on this one? Any tire techs or former tire techs out there? It just always seemed to me that stick-on wheels were sacrificing ride quality for looks...

I don't think that's the case, but I'd still like to hear more information about the tuned-suspension angle that I mentioned.

If the guy behind me can see the wheel weights then I am not driving fast enough.
