Mustang Door Trim?

Mustang Door Trim?
What's up with the door trim on some Mustangs? It is a strip across the center of the door that looks as though it's designed to stop door-open damage. I've noticed it on various Mustangs and I was wondering what package includes this add-on, or is it an add-on? If I go to FordVehicles.com and 'build' a Stang I don't get the option for it.

when you see that chances are it's a rental!
Those should be on every Mustang V-6 rental, through Hertz.
They are available, painted, through Moss Mustang>

$150 is a bit much, so I'll just keep looking for a better parking space. Plus I don't care for the look that much

+1, That's what my dealer told me, you see that door protector moulding, it's a rental. They did it to protect the doors especially at the big airports when the cars are returned in the narrow lanes, and the cars are usually parked in motels, with no regard.

I would rather risk a ding than have that on my car. The chance that the door parked next to you will hit that moulding and nothing else is next to impossible. If you look at a car with a lot of chips and dents you will see that they are all over the place, not just where the moulding is.
