Where was this write up when I took mine off and painted them 2 months ago!? JK. This was a fantastic write up and should help a few members out.

By the way, I love the chrome. I couldn't justify spending $400 on them and that is why I painted mine but a few days ago I found brand new chrome ones on Craigslist for $130!! Needless to say I didn't hesitate on that deal so my painted ones are soon to be swapped out.

Default Ford Racing 3-Valve Cam Cover install (w/pics)

Well I took the plunge today and took off my '05 valve covers and I want to say thanks to Taco Bill's write up w/ pics because it made the job less daunting. You did a great job and the pics were a super help. I now will clean and prep them for powder coating.......Now do I want to do the spark plugs ? Hmmmm

All these years, later, and this thread just helped me change to the Ford Racing Powder Coated valve covers. Not sure if the OP is still around, but thanks.

Even with low miles on mine (20k), I still had 11 years of crud buildup around the covers that the OP didn't appear to have to deal with back when he made this thread. Did my best to keep it out of the engine when the covers came off, but you can't get it all. Hopefully, its a non-issue. Perhaps I'll run it a couple hundred miles, then change out the oil for piece of mind.
